ABOUT KNOWTIVE

About Knowtive

Experience with knowledge. Focus on AI.

Knowtive is run by Jan Hansen and builds on experience at the intersection of knowledge management, information architecture and AI.

Knowtive combines information-science practice with modern technology and starts with how knowledge needs to be found, understood and used.

EXPERIENCE

From information retrieval to AI

Jan Hansen has more than 20 years of experience with information and knowledge systems in knowledge-intensive and research-driven organisations.

Relevant experience includes knowledge management, digital information services, information retrieval, metadata, taxonomies, ontologies and semantic information structures, semantic search, implementation, integrations, governance, training, user adoption and digital transformation.

The progression runs naturally from traditional information retrieval through digital knowledge systems and semantic search to AI-powered knowledge solutions.

CURRENT FOCUS

Knowledge systems designed for practical use

The current focus is AI-powered knowledge systems, RAG, intelligent search, knowledge architecture, research intelligence and semantic information structures.

The work connects information, technology and organisational use, including practical work with AI-based research and knowledge systems without disclosing confidential project details.

INFORMATION SCIENCE

AI changes the tools — not the need to understand information

Information-science capabilities remain central to modern AI systems. Metadata, taxonomies, ontologies, information architecture, relevance, information retrieval and source evaluation make information more usable.

AI still needs structured information, strong retrieval, context, provenance and quality control.

APPROACH

Start with the information problem

Understand users, workflows, sources, constraints and security requirements before choosing architecture, retrieval, knowledge structure, model and integrations.

This avoids technology-first projects that are elegant in theory but poorly matched to organisational work.

COLLABORATION

The right expertise for the assignment

Knowtive works with experienced specialists when an assignment requires complementary expertise in areas such as research, laboratory processes, project management and digital R&D systems.

This makes it possible to assemble a small specialist team when needed. Collaboration scales with the assignment.

Knowtive makes knowledge useful.

An information problem does not need to start with a technology decision.

Start with the problem. Together, we can identify the combination of structure, search and AI that makes sense.
